Puppies

Between 7 and 14 weeks of age is a critical time in your dog’s life, particularly in terms of learning social skills with other dogs and people.
Puppy classes enable you to socialise your puppy in a safe, well-controlled environment, as well as teaching basic commands such as sit, lying down, stay and come.
Hanrob offers puppy classes every Saturday and supports other puppy class locations in the Sydney metropolitan area.
Preparing for Puppy Program
Hanrob now offers a Preparing for Puppy Program to help you choose the most suitable puppy for your family and lifestyle, and also advise you on techniques to make the puppy’s move into your home easy for both you and the puppy.
It can be quite daunting to buy a puppy because there are so many questions:
- What type of dog suits my home and lifestyle?
- Do I crate train or use confinement to toilet train?

- Where do I go to buy a dog?
- How do I know that it’s not a puppy farm?
- What do I have to do to “puppy proof” my home?
- Is there anything in my home that could be dangerous to the puppy?
- What do I do when I first get it home?
- What’s the best way to introduce it to my family and other pets?
- If I live in an apartment, where would I set up its “toilet”?
- What do I need to set up its bed and where is the best place for it?
- There’s so much stuff in the pet shops, how do I decide what I need to buy?
- Are there any tricks to make its first couple of nights easier, so that I can get some sleep?
- Should I take it to the vet for a check up when I first get the puppy?
- Is it necessary to enrol in Puppy Kindergarten?
- What do I have to do for vaccinations?
- What do I feed it?
- Do I have to change its diet as it gets bigger?
- Is there a book that tells me all this stuff?
The service is valuable to everyone who wants to have a great relationship with their dog, and particularly valuable for people who live in apartments, have limited access to backyards or haven’t raised a puppy before.
